The Buckeye Lacrosse Podcast

This season, Ohio State will debut a weekly podcast that covers all things Buckeye lacrosse. Hosted by Dominique Alexander, a captain in 2013 who just wrapped up his first season in the Premier Lacrosse League, the Buckeye Lacrosse Podcast will feature insights from head coach Nick Myers, assistant coaches, players and support staff. Listeners will gain a better understanding for all the things that make Ohio State lacrosse – and the Department of Athletics as a whole – unique.


Dominique Alexander

Dominique Alexander was a four-year letterwinner at Ohio State from 2010-2013. Alexander’s career culminated in 2013 when he was an honorable mention All-American and led the Buckeyes to a 13-4 record with an NCAA Tournament quarterfinal appearance.

Following his Ohio State career, Alexander has played professionally in both Major League Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League. In the MLL, he helped the hometown Ohio Machine with its first-ever league championship and debut last summer as a member of the Archers.

Alexander, a native of Baldwin, N.Y., stayed in Columbus following graduation and is a teacher and the head boy’s lacrosse coach at Olentangy Berlin High School.

In this episode, we’re introduced to new assistant coach Rick Lewis, who comes to Ohio State after serving for the past two years as the volunteer assistant coach at Army and whose Buckeye ties run deep. Lewis was a four-year letterwinner from 2012-15 and a captain as a senior for a team that made the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

On this week’s episode of the Buckeye Weekly Podcast, we’re joined by a special guest: Will “Buddy” Lange, a member of the Class of 2000 who is now running the Personal Protection Equipment unit at Honeywell International. He talks about the work that his company is doing to provide N95 masks during the COVID-19 pandemic and how the lessons he learned as a lacrosse player are still paying dividends today.

Dominique Alexander is joined in this episode by head coach Nick Myers, who updates the listeners on how he and the team have been adjusting while they’ve been away from each other. The pair also discusses the strong finish that the team had in the classroom and what the future holds for them this summer as it relates to jobs and internships. Dominique and Coach Myers also hit on some of their favorite moments from “The Last Dance” documentary that recently wrapped up on ESPN.

On this week’s episode, Dominique Alexander is joined by Maddy McIntyre, Director of the Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute, and Madison Reid, the director of events and player development of the men’s lacrosse program. Maddy and Madison discuss the many opportunities that the Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute offers in terms of internships/professional experience and the commitment the program places on community service. They also cover an exciting project that will result in a new, state-of-the-art home for the Buckeye lacrosse programs and lacrosse in the state of Ohio.

In Episode 8, Dominique Alexander is joined by one of his former teammates, three-time All-American Logan Schuss. Dominique and Logan look back on their time at Ohio State, which culminated in 2013 with a ECAC Tournament championship and trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Logan also gives an update on his professional career and talks about the advantages of playing in front of his family in Vancouver.

A jam-packed seventh episode of the Buckeye Lacrosse Podcast features head coach Nick Myers along with seniors Ryan Terefenko, Tre Leclaire and Jeff Henrick. The trio of seniors discuss their decisions to return to Ohio State next year and detail what they’ve been up to since returning home following the early end to the 2019 season.

Coach Myers and Dominique Alexander discuss the events of last week, which included the Big Ten’s announcement that all remaining winter and spring sports competitions would be cancelled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pair touch on a number of related topics, including the leadership shown by Ohio State’s administration. Prior to that news, the Buckeyes picked up a 13-11 win over Notre Dame at home last Tuesday. Coach Myers details that win along with his thoughts about this year’s 10-person senior class.
