🏆 TROPHY CHASING
Ohio State’s fifth MIVA title came in 1977 when the Buckeyes dropped one league match all season. Led by MIVA Player of the Year Aldis Berzins, his first of back-to-back such recognitions, Ohio State ended Pepperdine’s season in the NCAA Semifinals before taking a set from USC in the championship match. Mike Buckingham and Marc Waldie stood alongside Berzins on the NCAA All-Tournament Team.
Berzins would be inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame 25 years later as an enshrinee in the Class of ’02.
