COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly men’s gymnastics awards on Monday. Freshman Parker Thackston was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance in the dual meet at No. 6 Michigan on Saturday.
Thackston out-did last week’s career-high on the pommel horse to earn a 14.100 in Ann Arbor, winning the event title. Thackston now ranks fourth nationally with an average pommel horse score of 13.967 and has two scores of 14+ in the first three weeks.
The Buckeyes’ first home meet is against Illinois on Feb. 11 at noon. Admission and parking are free to all home men’s gymnastics regular season meets. Ohio State is also set to host the 2023 Big Ten Men’s Gymnastics Championships on March 31 and April 1.
