COLUMBUS – Juniors Ryan Terefenko and Tre Leclaire are among 50 players nationally who today were named by the Tewaaraton Foundation to the 2019 Tewaaraton Award men’s watch list.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

Leclaire is a repeat member of the Watch List, having also earned the honor last season. A native of Surrey, British Columbia, Leclaire is the Buckeyes’ co-leader in goals thus far (13) and is second on the team in points (15). He’s started the season strong, scoring at least two goals in every game thus far with one hat trick and two four-goal performances. His 3.25 goals-per game is third best in the Big Ten.

A veteran of 40 career games, Leclaire is a two-time USILA All-American (third team in 2017, honorable mention in 2018) who has 88 goals and 29 assists to his credit.

Terefenko is one of the top two-way midfielders in the country and is coming off a sophomore season in which he was a third-team USILA All-American. The Wilson, Pa. native has started all four games this year with 10 ground balls – second highest total on the team. He’s also registered a point in each of the last two games, scoring a man-up goal vs. UMass and assisting on a Jack Myers goal in the third quarter last week vs. Bucknell.

Terefenko has played in 37 career games with 83 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers, 10 goals and 12 assists. He was a first team All-Big Ten selection in 2018 and is also a two-time USILA All-American (honorable mention in 2017, third team in 2018).
