FRENCH LICK, Ind. – With one round to play, the Ohio State women’s golf team is tied with Michigan State for first place at the Big Ten Championship (+22). The Buckeyes are led by a pair of freshmen, Zoe-Beth Brake and Jessica Porvasnik, even atop the individual leaderboard and owners of a 4-stroke edge over third place.

Ohio State is ranked 25th nationally by Golfweek while the Spartans come in at No. 25 according to the Golfstat rankings this week. The co-leaders have a 10-stroke cushion over No. 12 Northwestern (+32) in third place entering Sunday’s final round.

Porvasnik shot 1-over on Friday and even par in the second stanza to sit at +1. Brake, meanwhile, carded a 74 in her opening round before dipping under par with a 71 in round number two. The Buckeye duo are each other’s biggest threat for medalist honors heading into the final 18 holes. Allyssa Ferrell (Michigan State) and Grace Choi (Michigan) will need to overcome 4-shot deficits to surpass the Ohio State co-leaders. The last Buckeye individual to win medalist honors was Kristen White in 2005.

Felllow freshman Katha Pogacar and junior Claudia Lim contributed scores to the team score for the second straight day. Pogacar posted a 74 and owns a share of eighth place at 7-over (151). Lim shaved a stroke off her score on Day Two, carding a 78 for a two-round total of 157 and a piece of 34th place.

Ohio State is in search of its 15th Big Ten Championship in school history and first since 2005 when the Buckeyes took four straight conference crowns from 2002-05.
