Senior defensive back Chimdi Chekwa is back for his senior year, looking to lead the Buckeye secondary and carry on a legacy of great defensive backs at Ohio State. The senior from Clermont, Fla., flirted with the NFL after last season, but in the end, decided he wanted one more go around with the scarlet and gray.

Chekwa stopped after a recent practice and talked about the intensity of full-contact practices, the younger defensive backs on the team and goals for the defensive secondary in 2010.

Chekwa was an honorable mention all-Big Ten selection last season. He led the team with seven pass break-ups and was sixth with 43 tackles. He brings a wealth of experience, having played in 39 career games with three interceptions. Chekwa, who was named to the Thorpe Award watch list, is one of the fastest Buckeyes on the roster, anchoring the 2009 Big Ten champion 4×100 relay in outdoor track.
