COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nicolas Szerszen was tabbed as a MIVA Player of the Week for the second straight week on Tuesday (March 27) and 11th time in his career (10 offensive, one defensive). The senior outside hitter picked up the Offensive award this week by averaging 5.25 points per set while attacking .431 in two road wins.
Szerszen came up two blocks short of a triple-double Sunday at Lindenwood, racking up 17 kills, 10 digs, eight blocks and a half dozen service aces. In total, he was responsible for 28.0 points in the Ohio State five-set victory.
He opened the week by attacking .667 with 11 kills in a quick triumph at Quincy before coming back Sunday with 17 more put-aways.
Szerszen was lethal from the service stripe. The NCAA’s active career leader in aces extended his already astronomical lead in that category by blasting nine aces this week (an average of 1.13 aces/set).
Four different Buckeyes have received weekly conference honors this season:
Jake Hanes (Offensive; Jan. 30)
