COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team tallied 100 points to outdistance Canisius and Keuka last Saturday at the Weeds Physical Arts Center in Keuka, N.Y. With the first-place finish, the Buckeyes improve their record to 9-0. The Scarlet and Gray will return to the road Saturday when it travels to Canton, Ohio, for the Walsh Invitational.

Ohio State won three of four events, placing first in trio, duo and the team competition.

The group of Barbara Nesbitt (Fr., Riverside, Calif./U.S. National Team), Leah Pinette (Jr., Bristol, Conn./New Canaan Aquianas) and Hannah Shively (Fr., Westerville, Ohio/Riverside Aquettes) notched an 89.500 for first place in trio. Classmates Ellen Hacker (Sr., Newark, Ohio/Columbus Coralinas), Carmen Moraes (So., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Tyvca Tenis Clube) and Caitlin Stewart (Fr., Huntington Beach, Calif./Riverside Aquettes) were second with a 86.667.

The pair of Hacker and Stewart finished with top honors in duet, scoring a 91.167. In exhibition action, the duo of Brooke Paul (Jr., Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Coralinas) and Jackie Mundy (Fr., Corona, Calif./Riverside Aquettes) tallied 86.833 points, which faired better than four duet routines.

In the solo event, Nesbitt earned 92.167 points to finish second behind Natalia Tarasova of Canisius (92.500). The Scarlet Team continued to dominate the team portion, as it recorded a 93.167, more than three points ahead of its nearest opponent. The team from Canisius finished second with a mark of 89.833, while the Ohio State Gray Team was third with an 88.333.
