COLUMBUS, Ohio – Stuart Katz (Sr., Port Washington, N.Y.), a 6-4 outside hitter for the Ohio State (17-11, 5-5 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association), has been named the Volleyball Magazine Scholar Athlete of the Month in the May, 2006 issue of the magazine. A marketing and logistics major, Katz is a three-time All-Academic Big Ten Conference selection and a four-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.

The fifth-year senior leads the Buckeyes in three statistical categories. Katz is averaging 3.39 points, 2.87 kills and 2.01 digs per game. He has started at outside hitter in 25 matches this season while playing in 27. He also had one start at libero.

Katz and the Buckeyes close out the regular season this weekend with road matches at Lewis (10-17, 3-8) Friday and at Quincy (12-15, 3-8) Saturday. Ohio State, the fourth-seed in the MIVA Tournament quarterfinals will host fifth-seed Quincy, April 22 at 7 p.m. in St. John Arena.
