Sean Mohney


Sean Mohney, MS, RD, LD joined The Ohio State University’s Performance Nutrition staff in August of 2021.  As a Performance Dietitian, he works with 14 teams, including Men’s Lacrosse, Wrestling, Baseball, Men’s & Women’s Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s Rifle & Pistol, Men’s & Women’s Fencing, Men’s & Women’s Gymnastics, and Men’s Soccer.

Prior to his current role, Mohney served as an Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition at the University of Virginia from 2019 to 2021.  He worked with 12 teams, including Men’s Lacrosse, Volleyball, Wrestling, Softball, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Men’s & Women’s Golf, Men’s & Women’s Tennis, and Men’s & Women’s Squash.  He also completed a year-long sports nutrition internship with the UVA sports nutrition staff in 2018 and primarily assisted with the nutrition operations for Football, including the 2018 Belk Bowl.

Mohney received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Mount Union in 2015.  A former student-athlete, he competed on the baseball team as a four-year second baseman and served as a team captain for the 2015 season.  He later completed a combined master’s degree in nutrition and dietetic internship at Kent State University in 2017.

Mohney is a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  He belongs to the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA) and Sports and Cardiovascular Nutritionists (SCAN) dietetic practice group.

Mohney is a native of Medina, Ohio.  He and his wife, Sarah, reside in Columbus.
