Ohio State graduate Sean McMickle is in his sixth season as the head nutritionist for the Ohio State football program. In this position he develops and implements all of the team’s nutrition programs to maximize athletic performance with core responsibilities that include:
- Creating individualized nutrition plans to meet student-athlete’s body composition, hydration, and performance needs;
- Designing and implementing hydration protocols;
- Testing body composition using iDXA technology; and
- Educating athletes and staff on dietary supplements and ergogenic aids.
McMickle is a registered dietitian and a board certified specialist in sports dietetics. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
A 2012 graduate of Ohio State with a degree in dietetics, McMickle has held internships with the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois, and with Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center Sports and Health Performance Institute.
McMickle is working on his MBA from Ohio State’s Fisher School of Business. He is from Fairfield, Ohio. He and his wife, Kara Lauren, from North Royalton, Ohio, reside in Bexley.
