Ryan Sprague joined The Ohio State University in July 2019 as the strength and conditioning coach for the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving program. Since joining the Buckeyes the Women’s Swimming and Diving team has won back-to-back-to-back B1G Championship titles (2020, 2021, 2022) and has placed top-10 nationally in back-to-back years (2021 and 2022) with a program best finish of 7th place in 2021. Sprague has also helped the Men’s Swimming and Diving team place top-10 nationally in back-to-back seasons (2021 and 2022), finishing 7th and 9th, and achieving 3 consecutive top-3 finishes in the B1G.

Prior to joining The Ohio State University, Sprague served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for The University of Pittsburgh, where he oversaw the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for Men’s and Women’s Swimming, Softball, and Men’s and Women’s Track (sprinters and hurdlers).

Before his time at Pitt, Sprague completed his Master’s in Exercise Science – Strength and Conditioning degree at The George Washington University. During his master’s program Sprague completed internships with The Ohio State University football program as well as the University of Maryland football program. Before that Sprague completed his Bachelor’s of Exercise Science degree at San Diego State University, where he also interned for two years with the football and Olympic strength programs.

Ryan is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and currently lives with his wife and dog in Hilliard, OH.
