Rob Lachey is in his 16th year as the head equipment manager at Ohio State and 27th year in a fulltime position with the OSU equipment staff. Named to his present position in the summer of 2004, he oversees the equipment needs of all 36 varsity sports at Ohio State, working most closely with the football program.
Lachey, a 1991 graduate of Ohio State with a bachelor’s of science degree in human ecology, has been a member of the Ohio State equipment staff since 1986, when he began working in the equipment room as a student assistant.
Following a brief stint in private business, which included a year as equipment manager for the Ohio Glory of the World Football League in 1992, Lachey returned to Ohio State in 1994 as assistant equipment manager. He held that position until being elevated to his present position following Danny Swain’s retirement in December, 2003.
Lachey is responsible for the purchasing, stocking, transporting and maintenance of all athletics equipment while supervising full-time and student staff operating at several other athletics facilities on the Ohio State campus.
Lachey is a native of St. Henry, Ohio. His two brothers, Jim and Ron, both played football for the Buckeyes.
