Matt Bartlebaugh currently serves an Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at The Ohio State University. He also has a dual appointment as the Director of Academic Certification for The Student-Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO).

In his current role, Bartlebaugh serves as the compliance liaison to SASSO, the University Registrar, Admissions, and campus academic units.  He provides monitoring and interpretive guidance on all issues related to academics and eligibility.  He is responsible for oversight of the initial and continuing eligibility certification processes, transfer regulations, APR/GSR, and supervises NCAA waivers and petitions. In addition, Bartlebaugh works closely with the Faculty Athletics Representative on matters related to academic risk and policy and is responsible for risk reporting through the Athletic Council and Academic, Progress, and Eligibility Committee.  He serves as the compliance liaison to the women’s soccer program and the athletic academic counselor for women’s gymnastics.

Bartlebaugh came to Ohio State in 2012 after previously working in the Athletic Compliance Office at Michigan State.  A native of Napoleon, Michigan, he received his undergraduate degree in history from Michigan State University in 2007.  While at Michigan State, he was a 4-year letter winner in cross country and track and field.  He later received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2010 and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.

Matt and his wife Jen live in Clintonville with their daughter.
