Justin Kume currently serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Football Compliance, having been elevated to this position in January 2018 after joining the staff as an Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance in July 2017. In his role, Kume is a member of the Compliance Office’s Senior Leadership Team and serves as the primary compliance contact for the Football and Golf programs.
Kume joined the compliance staff after previously serving as the Director of Compliance at Florida State University since 2014 overseeing financial aid, awards and benefits, and recruiting while operating as the point of contact for the football, men’s basketball and golf programs. Prior to his time at FSU, he was an Assistant Director of Compliance at Auburn University from 2011 until 2014 and the Compliance Coordinator at Troy University from 2008 until 2011. Kume got his start in compliance as a graduate assistant at Florida State during the 2007-2008 academic year.
Nationally, Kume is a member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance, previously serving on the Convention Committee for 3 years. He is also a member of the American Football Coaches Association, USA Football (Heads Up Certificate), USA Baseball (B Level Coaches’ Certification), and USA Lacrosse (PCA Double Goal Coach).
A native of Marion, Ohio, Kume was a member of the Muskingum University football team, earning his undergraduate degree in 2006 while garnering Academic All-Conference honors in his senior year for the Fighting Muskies. He later received his Master’s in Sport Administration from Florida State in 2008.
Kume and his wife, Lauren, who works in the Fisher College of Business at OSU, live in New Albany with their children.
