Gary Petit

Associate Director - Men’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Tennis, Men’s Golf

Gary Petit joined the Ohio State staff in September of 2014. He is currently working with the men’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s tennis and men’s golf programs and has previously worked with the women’s basketball, synchronized swimming and rifle programs. Petit also oversees the office’s student assistants.

Petit served as the local media coordinator for the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four and was media coordinator for the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball First & Second Round at Nationwide Arena.

The Ohio native spent six seasons at Wake Forest prior to coming to Columbus. He was the primary contact for the women’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf teams while also working as the secondary football contact for four years. Petit also worked with the Demon Deacon track and field and volleyball teams during his time in Winston-Salem.

Prior to Wake Forest, Petit served as the assistant sports information director at Division III Ohio Northern from 2006-08 while earning his master’s degree in sport administration from Bowling Green State University. He worked with all 21 sports at Ohio Northern and served as the media coordinator for the OHSAA basketball regional playoffs in Ada.

Petit earned his undergraduate degree from Baldwin Wallace University in 2006 where he was a four-year letterwinner and a three-year captain on the golf team. He and his wife Rebekah reside in Grove City with their sons Noah and Levi.
