Dan Cloran is currently in his 4th year as Executive Associate Athletic Director for Development and 6th year overall at The Ohio State University. Mr. Cloran provides overall leadership and oversight of the Major Gifts, Buckeye Club, Stewardship, Donor Relations and Gift Processing offices for the Department of Athletics. He has been responsible for securing close to $300 million in donations for OSU which includes more than $200 million for The Department of Athletics.
In January, 2010, Mr. Cloran came to Ohio State from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and began his Ohio State career as a Sr. Director of Development in the Principal Gifts office. He quickly became part of the senior leadership team for the Foundation when he was appointed to manage the Principal Gifts department. In July, 2011, he was appointed to the position of Chief Advancement Officer in the College of Arts and Sciences, OSU’s largest Academic College, and oversaw a record year in Philanthropy for the College. His appointment to The Athletic Department came in November, 2012.
Mr. Cloran spent 9 years at Xavier as the Executive Director of Athletics Development, University Annual fund and Alumni Affairs. He was responsible for the creation and implementation of The All For One Club, Xavier’s athletic development program. The All For One Club provided strategic direction for all activity and development opportunities for Xavier’s Athletic Department. Also, he was responsible for the management and strategy for the integration of the National Alumni Association (XUNAA) with Development and also had the responsibility for Xavier’s Annual Fund.
Mr. Cloran’s development career included being a professional consultant with Field Development Consultants, Inc. and also managed all development and alumni activity at Cincinnati Moeller High School.
He is a 1992 graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing. Dan and his wife Erin live in Dublin, Ohio and have four children: Joey, Callie, Tommy and Emma.
