Candace Johnson

Coordinator, Career and Professional Development

Candace Johnson is in her second season as the coordinator of career and professional development for the football program. As part of the player development staff, she oversees the Real Life Wednesday initiative, career fair and internship program for the Buckeyes. She initially joined the Buckeyes in September 2017 as a member of the athletics communications staff as the primary contact for men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s gymnastics and softball while assisting with the men’s and women’s basketball and football programs.

Prior to Ohio State, Johnson spent two years at Howard University as the assistant director of athletic media relations. Working with the women’s volleyball team, she was the primary contact for the squad that claimed its second straight MEAC crown and earned a berth to the 2016 Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. She was also responsible for 13 of the athletics department’s 17 sports.

Johnson also spent time at the University of Connecticut as an athletic communications assistant. While there, she was the primary contact for women’s volleyball, field hockey, swimming and diving, women’s rowing, softball and the secondary contact for the 2015-16 women’s basketball team that won its 11th national championship.

Johnson received her bachelor’s degree in sports management from Guilford College in 2014. She worked for four years as a sports information student assistant while spending two years as a game day operations intern with the Atlantic Coast Conference. After graduating, she served as a sports information intern at Coppin State University.
