2019-20 (Junior)

Was 19-6 in singles between 1 and 2 and was 23-5 in doubles
Was ranked in the top-25 of singles and top-3 of doubles all season
Was the most dominant player at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship, sweeping the singles and doubles titles
Won three matches on each of the final two days of the regional, with two of the singles wins came over teammates Justin Boulais and Kyle Seelig
Reached the round of 16 at the ITA Fall Championship
In doubles, made a run all the way to the finals of the ITA Fall Championship, knocking-off the No. 15 ranked team of Payton Holden and Ryan Seggerman (Princeton) along the way
Was 13-2 in the fall in doubles with Cash
Opened the spring with six consecutive doubles wins en route to earning a No. 1 ranking nationally
Finished the year with eight wins over ranked singles players, including five in the spring
Named Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 28 after going a combined 5-0 and leading the Buckeyes to another ITA Kickoff Weekend title
Defeated Texas A&M’s No. 14 ranked Hady Habib 6-3, 6-4 in the Buckeyes’ win over the No. 7 Aggies
Had a win over the No. 4 ranked doubles team of Christian Sigsgaard and Yuya Ito from Texas

2018-19 (Sophomore)

Had a singles record of 26-8 and an impressive 24-3 doubles record
Selected for the NCAA Singles Championship for the first time in his career
Had 10 wins over ranked opponents
Was ranked all season in singles with a career-high rank of No. 23 for three weeks
Lost just two doubles match in the spring
Opened the year by making a run to the consolation finals at the All-American Championship, knocking-off a pair of top-11 ranked players along the way
Lost his first conference singles match and then ran-off 12 consecutive wins vs. Big Ten foes
Defeated No. 22 Jack Lin of Columbia to help the Buckeyes advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship

2017-18 (Freshman)

Posting a singles record of 25-6 including a combined record of 19-3 in dual matches for the Buckeyes
John also finished the season 7-5 against nationally ranked opponents including a win over then No. 35 Adam Moundir of Old Dominion
John ended the 2017-18 campaign with a doubles record of 24-8
McNally, alongside partner Mikael Torpegaard, went on a 14-match win streak from March to May helping pave the way to a Big Ten tournament title and a runner-up finish in the NCAA tournament
In addition, McNally went undefeated in conference play last season with a record of 8-0
John went 2-3 against nationally ranked duos including a win over then No. 16 Austin Rapp of No. 2 UCLA

Prior to Ohio State

McNally was atop the junior rankings for most of his junior career and was the No. 1 ranked recruit in 2014, 2016 and 2017 by Tennisrecruiting.net.
Rose to as high as No. 13 in the ITF World Junior Rankings
McNally played in three of the four Junior Grand Slams in 2016, advancing to the round of 16 at Wimbledon and the doubles quarterfinals at the French Open.
A multiple Midwest and national tournament champion, McNally won the 2014 hard court doubles title in addition to his 2016 national doubles title with JJ Wolf.
He also won the 2014 National Hard Court 16’s singles title, the 2014 International Spring Championship in Carson, the 2014 Easter Bowl and was the 2012 US Winter nationals-AZ singles and doubles champion in the boys 14.
Has been coached by his mother Lynn as well as Kevin O’Neill who has coached multiple ATP players
