COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University wrestling team hosts Cornell in front of a packed house on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. ET. It represents a third straight tpo-15 foe faced for the Buckeyes. The NWCA Coaches Poll, which is dual-based, pits No. 8 Ohio State (2-1) vs. the 17th-ranked Big Red (0-1). Both squads are slotted higher in FloWrestling’s tournament-based rankings, coming in at No. 5 and No. 16.
HISTORY WITH THE BIG RED
The Buckeyes have clashed with Cornell 15 times over the past 90 years and have split the series right down the middle, 7-7-1. Ohio State traveled to Ithaca, N.Y., last season and brought home a 25-9 victory.
STRONG RETURN FOR SINGLETARY
Chase Singletary made his 2019-20 colllegiate debut on Nov. 15 at Pittsburgh, picking up an impressive 8-3 win over then-No. 9 Demetrius Thomas. The top-10 triumph included a Singletary ride out for the entire second period. He then came back two days later and grinded out a tough 4-2 win vs. Virginia Tech’s John Borst.
PLETCHER PUSHING THE PACE
Luke Pletcher has notched bonus points in six of his first eight matches with four major decisions and two pins. He’s faced top-20 opponents in five consecutive bouts, outscoring the higher tiered competition by a combined tally of 56-21.
