UPDATE: It was just announced that play will resume at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Buckeye Field. The grounds crew is about to remove the tarp from the field. It is still raining lightly, but not hard enough to not allow play.

UPDATE: It is now 2:52 and the rain has just about stopped, but there is no activity on the field. Ohio State is in its locker room inside and Michigan players are on their bus. The grounds crew is predicting more rain to pass through the area throughout the afternoon, so it is unclear when play will resume.

UPDATE: It is now 2:11 and the tarp is still on the field. The rain is diminishing but we are still not within an hour of resuming play.


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The rain began falling hard at 1:31 p.m. Saturday at Buckeye FIeld and the umpires cleared the field as the Ohio State softball team and Michigan are locked up in a Big Ten showdown.

It is now 1:53 p.m. and the tarp is still on the field with a light rain. A front is passing through central Ohio from the south and should clear out in about 30 minutes.

Michigan, which won 8-0 Friday night, is leading 3-0 in the top of the third inning.
