COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s soccer team won for the fourth time in its spring exhibition season, defeating West Virginia, 2-1, Sunday in Columbus. Ohio State is now 4-1-1 in its spring matches.

Four student-athletes who will all be sophomores in eligibility this fall accounted for Ohio State’s scoring. Shawn Skladany scored off an assist from Lauren Steuer, and Genna Brand scored off an assist from Laura Roberts.

Coach Lori Walker and the team will conclude spring drills with a 1 p.m. game April 26 against Ohio in Athens. So far the team has wins over Dayton (2-0), Cincinnati (2-0), Tennessee (3-0) and West Virginia (2-1), a 1-0 loss to North Carolina and a scoreless tie with the Canadian National U-17 team.

Among returning players: Skladany and Brand each have four points this spring. Skladany had two assists against Dayton in addition to her goal against the Mountaineers. Brand has scored vs. Tennessee and West Virginia. Caitlin Colfer has three points (goal vs. Tennessee and an assist vs. Dayton). Lisa Collison (goal vs. Dayton) and Emily Esbrook (goal vs. Cincinnati) have two points apiece.
