COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore diver Jacob Siler is one of 15 athletes named to the 2019 High Performance Tier Two Squad, USA Diving announced on Monday.
The High Performance Tier Two Squad is made up of divers who most exhibit the potential, skill and determination to become 2020 U.S. Olympic Team members. A review of the High Performance Squad is conducted periodically, and divers may be removed or added from the squad following such evaluations. Including Siler, six of 15 members of the squad compete at Big Ten institutions.
Siler, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., is coming off a fifth-place finish on the 3-Meter board at the Big Ten Championships, scoring a season-best and team-high of 429.40. He was also 10th on platform (386.80). Siler has won titles on both platform and 3-Meter this season, and represented the Buckeyes at the ACC vs. Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 10-11, 2018.
“People like Jacob are the reason I coach,” Ohio State head diving coach Justin Sochor said. “His love for the process, the good and the bad, is unmatched. The Gnar is always alive in that guy! Gotta love him!”
Siler will be back in action for the Buckeyes at the NCAA Zone Diving Qualifiers, set for March 14-16 in West Lafayette, Ind.
