Final Results

South Bend, Ind. Andrew Loy, fresh off helping the Ohio State’s men’s 800 freestyle to gold on Friday night, swam his way to a third-place showing in the 100 freestyle on Saturday with a time of 44.41 at the 2018 Shamrock Invitational hosted at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.

A fellow member of the Friday night 800 freestyle relay, Paul DeLakis, hit the water in the 200 breaststroke on day two of the meet. The native of Eau Claire, Wisc., registered a time of 2:01.16 to stake claim to a fourth-place finish.

Both of Ohio State’s 400 freestyle relays closed out the meet with third-place finishes. The 400 freestyle relay of Macie McNichols, Maria Coy, Kristen Romano and Liz Li clocked a time of 3:20.53 for their bronze, and the men’s crew of Loy, Kalvin Koethke, Mossimo Chavez and DeLakis stopped the timer at 2:57.25.

In the team scoring department, the No. 16 Ohio State men’s team placed second with 933.5 points, and the No. 11 Ohio State women’s earned a third-place showing with 735.5 points. Notre Dame swept both team titles scoring 988.5 points on the men’s side, and the women’s team collected 1,023.5 points for gold.

On the diving boards, the trio of Jacob Siler (388.90), Christo Law (376.65) and Aaron Daniels-Freeman (345.45) performed their way to a three-four-five finish on the three-meter board, and Lara Tarvit registered a fifth-place finish on the one-meter board with 281.05.

Senior Meg Bailey dabbled in the 200 backstroke for the first time since October on her way to clocking a time of 1:59.32 for a fifth-place finish. Romano, a freshman, followed closely for a sixth-place finish with a readout of 1:59.59.

Daniel Gloude was the top finisher for the Buckeyes in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:49.98, and Evan McFadden set a personal best in the 200 breaststroke (2:02.13) to earn a sixth-place finish.

Several other Buckeyes set personal bests in their respective events on Saturday: Brooke Glesenkamp (51.17/100 freestyle), Evan Stapp (1:48.25/200 backstroke), Laura Banks (2:20.70/200 breaststroke) and Li (2:02.86/200 butterfly).
