Several Buckeyes Compete in Olympic Trials

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Past and present members of the Ohio State pistol team traveled to the Olympic Training Center to compete in the Winter Airgun Championships. This event signified part one of the Olympic Trials. Katelyn Abeln, Samuel Gens, Anthony Lutz, Anthony McCollum and Bernard Melus represented Buckeye Nation.

Abeln, Gens, Lutz and McCollum all qualified for finals in their respective events. Abeln finished fourth overall for women and first overall for junior women. Lutz came in at eighth in men’s air pistol final and seventh overall for men, while McCollum placed fifth in men’s air pistol final and fourth overall. Finally, Gens scored fifth in men’s junior air pistol final, 14th overall in men’s and fifth overall in men’s junior.
