Final Stats


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seven players scored in double figures as No. 10 Ohio State earned a 113-61 win over Ursuline College in an exhibition game Sunday afternoon at Value City Arena. Ameryst Alston led all scorers with 17 points while she and sophomore guard Kelsey Mitchell each dished-out eight assists.

The Short Story
After a slow start, the Buckeyes picked up the pace on both ends of the floor at the start of the second quarter and raced away to a 52-point victory. Ohio State used a 25-7 run at the onset of the second quarter to push what was a four-point game out to a 20-point game and was never threatened the rest of the way.

Seven different Buckeyes scored in double figures led by Ameryst Alston with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. She also dished-out eight assists while sophomore Kelsey Mitchell matched her with eight assists and 15 points. Alexa Hart chipped-in with 14 points and a pair of blocks.

Redshirt-freshman Kianna Holland, playing in her first collegiate game, scored 12 points and made two three-pointers. Asia Doss also added 12 points and freshman Kaylan Pugh posted 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting in her first appearance as a Buckeye. Junior Shayla Cooper was the seventh Buckeye in double-figures with 10 points and six rebounds in just 15 minutes of action.

Defensively, the Buckeyes forced 33 turnovers and converted them in 46 points. Ursuline scored just six points off of 13 Buckeye turnovers. Offensively, Ohio State shot 54.7 percent (47-of-86) on the afternoon and had 26 assists.

Turning Point
Ursuline came out of the gate hot and made six of its first nine shots to trail by just one at 14-13. But the Arrows then missed their next eight shots allowing the Buckeye to open a 23-15 lead. Ohio State then started the second quarter on a 25-7 run and never looked back. Hart had eight points and the Buckeyes made four three-point field goals during the run.
