FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Aneka Seumanutafa, a freshman on the Ohio State women’s golf team, tied for 29th after a final-round 3-over par 76 in difficult scoring conditions Monday at Blessings Golf Club. Seumanutafa, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, finished at 8-over for the tournament, which concluded Tuesday morning after the second weather delay of the week Monday afternoon.
The Emmitsburg, Md., native battled wind and rain throughout the round, opening with bogeys at one and five before responding with birdies at the par-5 seventh hole and par-3 eighth for an even-par 37 on the front. Seumanutafa then bogeyed 11 and doubled 13 before a birdie at 15 and another bogey at 16 for a 3-over 76.
Just arriving in Columbus in January, Seumanutafa, a first team All-Big Ten pick, concluded her opening season with a 72.0 scoring average while earning eight Top 25 finishes, five in the Top 10, three in the Top 5 and a win at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in late-February. Out of 26 total rounds this spring, Seumanutafa carded six in the 60’s and 10 under-par.
