Hailing from nearby Worthington, Ohio, Ellen Birmingham is a four-year letterwinner in cross country and track and field. She was a second team All-Big Ten selection in 2010 and a two-time all-regional performer in cross country. In 2009 she helped the cross country team to its first NCAA championship appearance after helping the Buckeyes to a second-place finish at the NCAA regionals. In 2011, she also helped the track and field team to its first Big Ten titles, both indoor and outdoor. Birmingham is a two-time all-academic selection by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association, a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar-Athlete award winner and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. She is currently pursuing her degree in health sciences, health and wellness and plans to teach English in the “Teach America” program and earn a doctorate in physical therapy.
