COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sofia Seldemirova and Adeena Shears, members of the Ohio State women’s golf team, have been named Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars, the organization announced Monday. To receive the honor, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average.
Seldemirova, who earned the honor for the first time, was an Academic All-Big Ten selection this past season and a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete majoring in marketing. As a sophomore this year, Seldemirova played in six events with six rounds counting toward the team tally while recording a 75.5 scoring average. The Sofia, Bulgaria, native finished in a tie for fifth at the Dayton Flyer Invitational in October with a 5-over 145.
Shears, a two-time All-American Scholar, is a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick. The junior played in 11 tournaments this year, with 23.5 of her 31 rounds counting to the team total. The Parkersburg, W.Va., native totaled a 75.4 scoring average with one round under-par and four at even-par.
The 2018-19 Buckeyes advanced to their 25th-consecutive NCAA Regional while winning the 18th Big Ten championship in program history.
