COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sofia Seldemirova, a junior on the Ohio State women’s golf team, saw her work pay off with a win last week at the Dayton Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.

The native of Sofia, Bulgaria, earned the victory with a final-round 1-under 69 last Tuesday to win the tournament by two strokes.

“I’m really happy that my game came together this past week in Dayton and allowed me to show a good result at a great venue,” Seldemirova said. “I had good control of my approaches and managed to stay calm in the windy conditions, taking it one shot at a time. I really hope that my bounce-back from a tough start of the tournament, making triple-bogey on the first hole, will allow me to bring more confidence and belief going into our next events.”

Playing in her 13th collegiate tournament, Seldemirova carded a tournament-best six birdies while tying for third with 24 pars. Seldemirova was second-best in the 84-competitor field at 2-over on the par-4’s and tied for third at 1-under in par-5 scoring. The win marked her second-career Top 5 finish.

The Buckeyes conclude their fall team schedule at the White Sands Invitational Golf Series hosted by the University of Houston Oct. 28-30 at The Ocean Club in Nassau, Bahamas.
