PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – Junior Sofia Seldemirova carded a 1-under-par 70 to lead the Ohio State women’s golf team on the second day at the 25th Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge Monday at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Buckeyes sit in 15th place as a team with a round to play.
Final-round play begins with an 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start Tuesday in southern California.
After battling rain and strong winds in the opening round Sunday, the Buckeyes improved their team score by nine strokes on a sunny and breezy afternoon Monday.
Seldemirova bounced back from a difficult opening round to card four birdies to move up six spots from the start of play Monday. Senior Adeena Shears, playing as an individual was steady once again on her way to a second-consecutive 2-over-par 73 and sits in a tie for 28th while sophomore Lauren Peter notched a 3-over 74 and is tied for 34th. Sophomore Aneka Seumanutafa is tied for 45th after recording a 5-over 76 while senior Alex Wright also went 5-over and is tied for 65th. Junior Yukie Sasaki and sophomore Skylar Thompson each carded a 6-over 77 and are tied for 71st and 78th, respectively.
For the tournament, Peter is tied for third in par-3 scoring at 1-under and is tied along with Shears for 10th in the 84-competitor field with 24 pars.
