COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s ice hockey forward, Liz Schepers was named WCHA Forward of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. The honor is the first conference nod of the year for the junior and her third career conference recognition.

Over the weekend, No. 6 Ohio State split with the No. 3-ranked Cornell Big Red in a non-conference matchup. Schepers tallied a team-high four points on the weekend including three assists in the 3-1 win on Friday and the lone Buckeye goal in the 5-1 defeat on Saturday.
Schepers is the second highest point scorer on the team with 23 season points from 12 goals and 11 assists. Her goal on Saturday also marked her first power play goal of the season. In the conference, Schepers is tied for fifth in goal scoring with 0.58 goals per game and ranks second in game-winning goals with three total. The junior forward scored the overtime winner against Bemidji State and secured the win against St. Lawrence in game one as well as the victory over No. 2 Minnesota on Oct. 25.
The Buckeyes will take a weekend off before traveling to Las Vegas, Nev. for a two-game non-conference series against the Princeton Tigers. Both games are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15.
