The Best Fans in the Land continue their record-setting tailgate recycling season

The Buckeyes still have Michigan to beat, but have already beat the recycling performance of last season.

Against Penn State Nov. 13, Ohio State diverted 55 percent (50 percent for the season) of its waste stream from the landfill. Compared to last season, there has been a decrease of 32.9 percent of trash and an increase of 58.5 percent in recycling.

Ohio State is in solid position to better Michigan Stadium’s recycling performance in 2010. With one game remaining, the U-M program has a 21.9 percent diversion rate and has recycled 29.5 tons. Ohio State’s totals now have reached 44.2 tons and a 42.4 percent diversion rate.
