COLUMBUS, Ohio- Meghan Rowlands (So./Hilliard, Ohio) went 2-for-3 with a home run and Amy Ellis (Sr., Erie, Pa.) went 3-for-3 with three RBI’s as the Scarlet team used an eight-run fourth inning to defeat the Gray, 13-5, in five innings today at Buckeye Field and even the series at 1-1.

The Scarlet took a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the third inning before the Gray fought back with four runs to tie the game at 5-5 going into the fourth inning. The Scarlet then erupted with eight in the fourth and the Gray, led by Billie Jo Carder ho went 2-for-3 on the day with three RBI’s, never recovered.

Katie Chain (Sr., North Canton) entered to pitch for the Scarlet at the start of the fourth inning and shut down the Gray. Chain pitched the final two innings allowing no hits, no runs while recording two strikeouts.

The third game of the series will be at 3 p.m Monday at Buckeye field.
