Scarlet and Gray at Notre Dame Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team traveled to South Bend Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational. The tournament included Ohio State, Notre Dame, DePaul, Minnesota and Tennessee.

Day One (Friday)

The Buckeyes took on Minnesota in singles, with Emma DeCoste facing River Hart of the Gophers and Andrea Ballinger taking on Cammy Frei. DeCoste battled against the Golden Gopher winning the first set, 7-5, but ultimately getting edged out on sets two and three. Senior Buckeye, Ballinger, started off with a close first set – going into a tiebreaker of (10-8.) The following set lead to a second singles victory for Minnesota.

In doubles, the Buckeye tandem competed against Hristina Djokic and Marija Jovicic of DePaul where they held the lead for some time, until DePaul broke to win, 6-4.

Day Two (Saturday)

The Buckeyes opened the day with a doubles match vs. Cammy Frei and River Hart of Minnesota, falling in a close match, 6-4.

In singles, Ballinger fought back after losing the first set to force a third against Notre Dame’s Maeve Koscielski, with each player winning 6-4. In the third, Koscielski pulled away 6-3 for the match. DeCoste retired in her match vs. Brooke Broda of the Irish.

Day Three (Sunday)

The Buckeyes closed out play at South Bend with a singles match against DePaul.

Andrea Ballinger claimed a victory over Maddie Yergler of the Blue Demons, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.

Andrea Ballinger (Ohio State) def. Maddie Yergler (DePaul) 6-3, 2-6, 6-3
