COLUMBUS, Ohio Sam Marder, a junior All-America catcher on the No. 16 Ohio State softball team, has accepted an invitation to the 2009 USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp in Chula Vista, Calif., June 8-12, announced Friday by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA). Marder is one of 27 athletes included in the initial round of invitations with additional attendees being announced at a later date.

The Calabasas, Calif., native has been a dominant force at the plate in her junior season. She currently leads the Big Ten in homeruns with 14 and has 38 for her career, moving her to within four of breaking the career record 41 set by Kristine Himes in 2000-03. The first-year captain also boasts a .944 slugging percentage this season, with 84 total bases behind her, and 32 RBI (135 career, third all-time).

Behind the plate, Marder has a .996 fielding percentage with 240 put-outs and 22 assists, while foiling nine of 13 stolen base attempts.
