Saturday Recap: Rod McCravy Memorial Track & Field Meet



COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team wrapped up competition at the Rod McCravy Memorial on Saturday in Lexington, Ky. The team, in its first official competition under new director and head coach of men’s and women’s track and field and cross country, Rosalind Joseph, came away with 10 wins over the two day event.

Saturday highlights:

  • In the 60, Nya Bussey took first with a personal best time of 7.36 with Leah Bertrand fourth in 7.47 and Alyssa Marsh coming in fifth with a personal best of 7.49.
  • Junior Clarence Foote-Talley won the triple jump competition with a leap of 52-5-1/4, a jump that is among the Top 5 indoors in school history.
  • Jaimie Robinson soared 41-9-1/4 to win the triple jump competition by nearly a foot over her nearest competitor.
  • Ohio State was dominant in the men’s shot put competition with Hayden Tobias taking first with a toss of 65-10-1/4, a personal best and the fifth-furthest throw indoors in school history. Carlos Aviles (59-8-1/2) and Joshua Miller (58-10) were 4th and 5th.
  • The A 4×400 relay team of Alyssa Marsh, Yanique Dayle, Bryannia Murphy and Jaydan Wood took first in a time of 3:34.84.
  • Buckeyes also were dominant in the women’s 800 with Aniya Mosley winning in 2:11.75 with Carina Napoleon and Amelia Figler third and sixth, respectively, in 2:14.26 and 2:15.68.
  • What an afternoon for Leo Uusimaki: he was fifth in the 60 hurdles in 8.22 and he took second in the pole vault with a leap of 17-3-3/4. Luke Bendick (4th; 16-6), Reo Ogundare (7th; 16-0) and Daniel Drellishak (10th; 15-6-1/4) also placed in the Top 10 in the pole vault.
  • Marcia Sey and Janela Spencer each recorded personal bests in the finals of the 60 hurdles. Sey was third in 8.40 and Spencer was 8th in 8.49.
  • Third and 8th-place efforts were matched by Bryannia Murphy (53.95) and Chanler Robinson (56.05) in the 400 meters.
  • Terrific efforts in the women’s mile, as well, as Addie Engel (4:55.47), Daniella Santos (4:55.79) and Gia Napleon (4:58.20) finished second, third and sixth, respectively, with freshman Ana Karmol also competing for her first collegiate indoor action.
  • Lacey Stringer won the shot put with her first-throw heave of 49-7-3/4. Faith Bender took third with her throw of 47-6-1/2.
  • More from the men: Trey Gardette was 7th in the 60 meters in 6.97; Zach Plotkin and Xavier Jemison were 4th and 5th, respectively, in the 800 in 1:53.41 and 1:54.28; and Giovanni Copploe was 8th in the 3,000 meters.
  • In the women’s 3,000: Annie Allen was third in 10:01.83.
