COLUMBUS, Ohio – Samuel Clark, a freshman middle blocker for the Ohio State men’s volleyball team, earned recognition from both the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) and Off the Block (OTB) this week. He was named the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week and OTB National Freshman of the Week after accumulating 10 kills, eight blocks and five digs while attacking .769 in two Buckeye victories.
Clark opened the week by blocking Lincoln Memorial eight times and posting four digs in a four-set winner. He also bounced 4-of-6 errorless attempts versus the Railsplitters. He came back the next night and remained red-hot on the attack, registering six more kills on just seven swings in a sweep over King. Clark added another point from the service stripe with an ace and put up for more block assists.
Ohio State has picked up two of three MIVA defensive honors to start off 2020. Martin Lallemand was the honoree on Jan. 7.
