COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior diver Ryan Jefferson has been named the Big Ten Conference Diver of the Week for his efforts in Ohio State’s dual meet win over Indiana Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. This is the first Big Ten weekly award for Jefferson.
In last week’s 224-74 dual meet win over Indiana Jefferson, from Madison, Wisc., and Madison Edgewood High School, earned his first sweep of the season on the springboard events, part of a unbeaten day of diving and swimming for the Buckeyes. Jefferson posted his first of two NCAA qualifying marks with a 357.23 effort in the one-meter competition to claim first place honors. He then followed that performance with another winning mark of 409.65 off the three-meter board. With the win, the No. 12 Buckeyes improved their dual meet slate to 6-0 on the season.
Jefferson and the Buckeyes are off this weekend and will return to the pool with a two-day quadrangular meet Jan. 29-30 featuring the host Buckeyes along with Michigan, Northwestern and Penn State. Start times are 6 p.m. Friday and 12 noon Saturday.
