COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State rowing head coach Andy Teitelbaum has announced the hiring of Madeline Davis as assistant coach. Davis joins the Buckeye staff after spending three seasons as the assistant lightweight women’s rowing coach at Stanford University.
“We’re excited to welcome Madeline to our coaching staff,” Teitelbaum said. “Her experiences as a student-athlete and as a coach will benefit the team and make her a great addition to our program.”
At Stanford, Davis assisted the Cardinal lightweight eight to three consecutive national championships, most recently capturing a national title at the 2013 IRA National Championships in June. She also coached nine student-athletes to Pocock Lightweight All-America honors.
Prior to her time with Stanford, Davis spent one season as the head coach of Girls’ Varsity Crew at The Hun School of Princeton in New Jersey. While there, she coached the Varsity 4+ to an undefeated dual season and their first invitation to the USRowing Youth National Championships in nearly a decade. Davis also assisted with coaching duties for the Mercer Junior Rowing Club and the Carnegie Lake Rowing Association.
“I am so excited and honored to join the Ohio State coaching staff,” Davis said. “I have a great deal of respect for the student-athletes and coaches here and am really looking forward to working with them. I can’t wait to begin doing my part to help continue this program’s great tradition of success.”
Currently, Davis coaches three lightweight boats with the U.S. Under-23 National Team. The Lightweight Women’s 4x, 2x and 1x have all qualified for the 2013 Under-23 World Rowing Championships held July 24-28 in Linz, Austria.
Davis holds experience as a lightweight rower at both the collegiate and international level. At Princeton University, she was a four-year varsity letterwinner, three-year member of the lightweight varsity eight and an Eastern Sprints and IRA Champion. Davis served as the team captain during her senior season, garnering All-American honors. After graduation in 2009, Davis competed for the United States National Team at the Under-23 World Rowing Championships in the Lightweight 2x.
