• Named CSCAA First Team All-American as part of the 200 Free Relay that finished seventh at the NCAA Championships with a time of 1:16.89.
• Broke the school record in the 200 Free Relay at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 1:16.36, earning silver; also part of the bronze-medal 200 Medley team (1:24.16)
• Took 16th in the 50 Free with a time of 19.84 at Big Tens.
• No. 4 on the team with a season-best 50 Free time of 19.53 and 100 Free time of 43.69.

As A Junior (2017-18)
• NCAA Qualifier as a member of the 400 Free Relay.
• Helped the 400 Free relay team to a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Championships with a time of 2:49.42.
• Claimed silver as part of the 400 Free Relay (2:50.12) and bronze on the 200 Medley Relay (1:24.52), anchoring both races at the Big Ten Championships.
• Placed 16th in the 50 Free (20.07) and 19th in the 100 Free (43.86) at the Big Ten Championships.
• Swam a career-best 100 Fly time of 48.23 at the USA Winter National Championships.

As A Sophomore (2016-17)
• Named to First Team All-Big Ten and was a Big Ten Champion on 200 Free relay team.
• NCAA Championships qualifier for the Buckeyes on the 400 Free Relay team.
• Placed first in the 50 Free in dual meet against Wright State and placed first in the 50 Free during meet against Akron and Pittsburgh.
• Had fastest 50 Free time on team with a time of 19.45 and it came at the Big Ten Championships.
• Third fastest time in 100 Free with a 43.26

As A Freshman (2015-16)
• Honorable Mention All-American in the 200 freestyle relay as a freshman, the only first-year Buckeye swimmer to make it to NCAAs.
• Swam at the 2016 Big Ten Championships in the 50 and 100 freestyle as well as the 100 butterfly.
• Started his collegiate career in the dual meet against Kenyon, winning the 50 freestyle.
• Second-fastest 50 free time on the team (19.71) and fourth-best in the 100 free (43.94).
• Qualified for 2016 Olympic Trials

• Four-year letterwinner at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, coached by Andy Parro.

Personal
• Son of Mee and Jaime Chavez.
• Has two siblings (Alexa and Teo); Teo swims for Ohio State as well.
• Majoring in sport industry, minoring in business.
• Most memorable athletic moment was winning a Big Ten title in the 200 Free Relay at the 2016 conference championship.
• Plans to work with a professional sports team upon graduaation.
• Favorite hobbies include playing other sports – mainly basketball or golf.
