2022 Season – Postseason Awards Page

  • Semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation’s top safety
  • Is third on the team and tops among defensive backs with 54 total tackles
  • Has added 2.5 tackles for loss (-14 yards), 1.5 sacks, one INT, two PBUs, and forced fumble, fumble recovery and blocked punt
  • Last week against Indiana, Ransom had nine tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.5 sacks, one PBU and a blocked punt
  • The Buckeyes rank sixth naitonally in pass defense and have allowed just 11 passing TDs in 10 games

Ohio State Overview
• Lathan is in his third season with the program and has three seasons of eligibility
• He is an OSU Scholar-Athlete majoring in communications
• Has played in 20 games
• Had a fine 2021 campaign that saw him play in all 13 games and start three games (vs. Minnesota, Oregon and Tulsa)
• Was third among the defensive backs with 38 total tackles, including a quarterback sack, plus had five pass break-ups
• Had a career-high eight tackles vs. Tulsa, six vs. Purdue and five vs. Michigan
• Missed the 2022 spring drills while recovering from an injury during the Rose Bowl game
• Saw increased playing time throughout the 2020 season, played in seven games and had five of his six tackles in the final three games
• Finished with two tackles and one pass defended in a 22-10 win over Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship Game
