Interviews. Television appearances. More interviews. It was a busy – and good – day for the two-time defending Big Ten champions at the conferences’ annual media days, held this year at the Chicago Hilton.
It was also a day of firsts as Ryan Day experienced his inaugural media day as the Buckeyes’ head coach. His day started early – at approximately 8 a.m., he was a guest on ESPN’s “Get Up” with Mike Greenberg. He then spent some extended time with the play-by-play voice of Ohio State football, Paul Keels, as part of 97.1 The Fan’s 2019 season preview special.
The three players representing Ohio State – senior DE Jonathon Cooper, senior WR K.J. Hill and senior SAF Jordan Fuller – arrived at approximately 9:30 a.m. local time and began their media tour at 10:15 a.m. with stops at BTN.org and the BTN social media team. From there, they headed down to “radio row” and did a variety of interviews with television and radio stations. The trio then had a two-hour break before starting back up again in the afternoon at 2 p.m. with stops to talk with BTN’s The Journey, ESPN, FOX Sports, and CBS Sports, among others. They also had the opportunity to spend 15 minutes with Sirius XM on its show co-hosted by Buckeye great AJ Hawk.
At the same time, Day was going strong, making similar stops to talk with BTN, ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports and The Journey. His seven-hour days also included promotions and marketing activities, a press conference that was aired live on BTN, a stop at the BTN set to talk with Dave Revsine, Howard Griffith and Gerry DiNardo and a one-hour interview session with local and national reporters. In all, Day answered over 150 questions.
Also on Thursday, the Big Ten Conference announced its East and West Division preseason lists. RB J.K. Dobbins and DE Chase Young representing Ohio State on the East Division list.
The day for Cooper, Hill and Fuller finished up with a live appearance on the BTN studio set and a one-hour individual podium session. Like Day, the trio individually answered well over 100 combined questions.
On Friday, Cooper, Hill and Fuller will participate in a photo and marketing shoot for FOX and they – along with Day – will attend the 48th Annual Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon. At the luncheon – which is from 12:30-3 p.m. ET and airs live on BTN – Day will be interviewed along with the 13 other conference head coaches.
