COLUMBUS, Ohio – A pair of Buckeyes – senior defenseman Ben Randall and sophomore midfielder Ryan Terefenko – were selected by a media panel as All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse, the organization announced yesterday. Randall made the second team while Terefenko was on the honorable mention list.
Randall, from Cincinnati, was one of the anchors in the Buckeyes’ defense that led the Big Ten in allowing just 8.60 goals per game. He scooped up 21 ground balls and forced 15 turnovers. Randall was also a first team All-Big Ten honoree and was one of the 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award.
Terefenko did a little bit of everything for the Buckeyes as a short stick defensive midfielder this spring. The Sinking Spring, Pa. native had 43 ground balls – second most on the team – caused seven turnovers and also contributed nine points (four goals, five assists). In Big Ten games only, he finished second in the conference with 4.80 ground balls per game. A three-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, Terefenko earned first team All-Big Ten honors.
