MURRELLS INLET, S.C.—Seniors Caleb Ramirez and Will Voetsch each dropped four-under 68s to lift the Buckeyes into second place at four-under par after one round at the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional. The number eight seed Ohio State came out of the gates on a roll, getting as low as five-under at one point, before settling at four-under through 18 holes at TPC Myrtle Beach.
Ramirez shot 32 on the front nine, carding four birdies, and 34 on the back, adding another couple birdies to finish the round with a four-under 68. The California native tied his career low 18-hole score to position himself one shot off the top of the leaderboard in a tie for second place.
Voetsch played a flawless front nine as well, draining a birdie and his first eagle of the season to make the turn at three-under. He carded three birdies against two bogeys on the back nine to tie his low round of the season with a four-under 68 and take a share of second place with two rounds to play.
Will Grimmer and Daniel Wetterich each closed out their rounds with four pars and two birdies to stay within striking distance of the lead in a tie for 35th place.
Laken Hinton carded 75 to move him into a tie for 48th place through his first 18 holes.
