On preparing for Indiana:
We’re going to play a team that has played us extremely well. They’re hungry and they’re a good football team. Our guys will have to have a great week of practice and prepare to get better.
On Master Teague:
He runs really hard. He’s big and strong and he attacks defenders. We’re becoming more comfortable every day with him. What he’s doing right now he’s earning himself more playing time.
On defense line:
Chase has done some great things. From the back end, some of the things that other guys have done…you can go on and on. It’s fun looking up and down the line and seeing the backers and how much they’ve improved. We believe we can improve every single time.
Every player can get better on his technique. If you want to be as good as you can be, every day you evaluate yourself. Every one of our guys know they can get better.
On J.K.’s performance vs. Cincinnati:
This game, he was more settled in and more confident. I think the more confident he plays, the better he’ll play.
On defense and its talent level:
Chase is definitely the leader of the defense. Going against them all preseason has definitely made it easier for me on Saturdays.
On what’s he learned from previous losses:
Things didn’t go right in both of the games (Iowa and Purdue). We didn’t score in the red zone and we didn’t score when defense got stops. We just take it one game at a time, study the opponent, and go out there and execute.
On favorite aspect of the defense:
We have more swagger to us. I think we have more confidence, too. All of us just want to be out there and be athletes and play football and find the pigskin. When we do that you can see we have swagger and you can see we’re stopping the run and we’re making offenses pay.
Every time we’ve played Indiana since I’ve been here, it’s always been a tough game. They’re always going to give us their best shot. We’ve got to lock in and get ready for this week.
On the past few weeks:
It’s been good. The Buckeyes are playing really well. I think our offense has been really fun. It’s my last ride so I have to do everything I can to leave everything out on the field.
On getting back into his groove:
I think I’m playing really high level football. I just got to keep going and keep getting better each and every week.
On his sack vs. Cincy:
It felt good, especially with all the work I put in…I should’ve went for the sack-fumble but there’s always next time.
On his transition to college ball:
At the beginning, it was tough getting acclimated to the game. Adjusting to watching film versus just being athletic. Once I got it down, it became easy.
They’re a very good football team. They always come prepared when they play against us, so it’ll be a challenge.
They’re generally really physical and really fast at the same time. Sometimes it’s hard to pick up where they’re going and what they’re doing, especially on the inside.
On facing a duel-threat QB:
We also got to keep an eye on the quarterback. Even if they’re not a duel-threat they can still run the ball. We just got to make sure we contain him.
On his game vs. Cincy:
Having great practices led to that (performance). Preparation, watching film, getting what I needed from Coach Hafley.
Why playing so confidently:
Again it goes back to preparation and running to that ball. We’re also playing with that swag like Brendon (White). … If you want to be the best, all 11 of us have to run to the ball.
Playing with that “swag:”
It wasn’t missing (last year) but I think everyone was thinking too much. This year, we’re playing faster like actual silver bullets. It’s exciting to see my (teammates) make these plays.
