J.T. Barrett

On the team’s eagerness to open season
“If you told us we had to wait another two weeks to play, we’d go crazy around here. We’re ready to go play a game and compete at a high level.”

On being named captian for the third time
“Getting chosen by your peers to go out and lead the team three years in a row… To be a captain three times is definitely an honor. It’s one of the best feelings to be voted [captain] by your teammates.”

Terry McLaurin

On going home to Indiana
“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a big deal. You get to be a big part of this offense and play in front of your home state. (I’ve) got around 20 people trying to come. It’s been kind of hectic, but I just have to focus on what’s important and try and get the first win for this team. Get us stared on the right foot. It’s going to be exciting being in that atmosphere come Thursday.”

On his confidence level
“I feel like from the leaders in our room on down, that goes with the quarterbacks as well, we’re all on the same page. I feel like there’s no room for miscommunication; there’s no room for error. We’ve kinda bridged that gap. We’re just excited to show the world what we can do and what we’ve been working on since spring. You’re going to see an exciting offense.”

Sam Hubbard

On the start of a new season
“We’ve had an intense camp and we’ve been getting after each other. It’s time to get after somebody else. It’s like Coach Meyer says, ‘if they’re keeping score we want to be No. 1 and we got to play like we’re No. 1.’ We feel like we are the No. 1 team.”

On Indiana QB Richard Lagow
“We’re anticipating them trying to get the ball out fast like they did last year. Not too many drop backs but obviously if they drop back we would love to get after him a little bit.”

Billy Price

On preseason No. 2 ranking
“The expectations we put on ourselves are a lot higher than the media or the fans. Go out and execute. Play your game. You can’t start looking at rankings. Beat the guy across from you on every play.”

On Memorial Stadium
“Last time I was there, it was a dog fight … I don’t [overlook] these guys by any means.”

Jalyn Holmes

On being named captain
“It means everything to me. It was a feeling I can’t describe. It’s something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. Who would’ve known a kid from Virginia would be captain of Ohio State football? If somebody would’ve told me this five years ago, I wouldn’t have believed them. I worked hard for that honor.”

Tyquan Lewis

On the Ohio State offensive line
“They’ve definitely matured. They’ve worked extremely hard this offseason on their technique [and] coming together as a unit. They all have to play on one string.”

On the Ohio State defensive line
“We definitely believe we have the chance to be the best defensive line [Coach Johnson has had]. We go in and we work. That’s our main focus.”

Chris Worley

On Indiana QB Richard Lagow
“They have a great quarterback. He can make just about any throw on the football field.”

On playing linebacker and safety, understanding the defense as a whole
“It’s kind of like being a worker and then becoming the boss. You understand what each worker goes through and it makes you become a better boss cause you know how to handle certain situations and you know what to expect.”

Tracy Sprinkle

On opening the season with a Big Ten opponent
“I think every game we try to take it as a big game, because it’s one week at a time no matter what. We never look forward to the next game. So this game right here is the biggest game of the season for us.”
