Learn more about Ohio State’s All-American

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last April, Rebecca Best became just the sixth Buckeye in Ohio State women’s gymnastics history to take home All-America honors, finishing sixth on floor with a career-best 9.850 at the 2009 NCAA Championships in Lincoln, Neb.

Now, the junior returns in 2010 with the same dedication, looking to return to the national championships while helping a young Ohio State team continue to build upon the program’s strong foundation.

Best kicks off a weekly Q&A feature on this season, allowing fans to learn more about their favorite Buckeyes.

On the serious side …
Athletically, what are your personal and team goals this season?
Team goal:
To be Big Ten Champions, more importantly stay healthy at 100% the entire season so we can compete at our best and full potential.

Personally: Compete better than my best

How do you balance the pressure of athletics and academics?
“I take one thing at a time with everything.  If I’m in class, I focus on taking notes. When I have practice, I focus on completing my assignments with quality to eliminate time and when I’m home, I focus on finishing school work or relaxing.”

Who has made the greatest influence on you as a student-athlete?
“My parents. They’re always behind me 24/7 to support and help me succeed and to make sure I’m doing the best I can. If I’m not doing my best, they try to help me in any way possible to keep me on track.”
