Senior captain Hillary Dow gives the rundown on her favorites
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior captain Hillary Dow returns in 2010 after being a key reason for Ohio State’s success in 2009. As a junior captain a season ago, Dow was one of the Buckeyes’ top all-arounders and floor performers. Now, Dow is owns an RQS average of 38.725 in the all-around – the best on the team.
The Yorktown, Va., native has earned the team’s Most Inspirational Award, as well as earning Academic All-Big Ten and OSU Scholar-Athlete honors.
“Hillary is a very special person and athlete,” Carey Fagan, Ohio State head coach, said. “She consistently goes above and beyond what we require of our student-athletes. She is an outstanding leader and has played an integral part in the team’s success in previous seasons.
On the serious side …
Athletically, what are your personal and team goals this season?
Personally – I would like to be named to the All-Big Ten Team one day.
Team goal – Win the Big Ten title and qualify to NCAAs.
How do you balance the pressure of athletics and academics?
“I am very organized. I make a minute-by-minute schedule each day and try to take advantage of any spare minute I have.”
Who has made the greatest influence on you as a student-athlete?
“The list is endless. Ohio State has so many great coaches and athletes. Many people have touched me in so many ways to help me become a better athlete, student and person. I have been very fortunate.”
