COLUMBUS, Ohio- Freshman Colleen Dean has made an immediate impact for the Buckeyes in the 2010 season. As a junior competitor, she was a 2009 Ohio State All-Around Champion, as well as a leader on vault, beam, and floor. Colleen also was a 2009 Junior Olympic National qualifier and qualified for Level 8, 9, and 10 Regional Championships during her high school career.
“Colleen is proving to be one of our top performers in nearly every event,” Carey Fagan, Ohio State head coach, said. “She has seen a lot of action in the all-around this season and the key for Colleen will be being confident in all of her events. She is coming off a great senior year season and has unlimited potential as she begins her career as a Buckeye.”
On the serious side …
Athletically, what are your personal and team goals this season?
“I hope to become a more consistent gymnast and to perform clean routines.”
How do you balance the pressure of athletics and academics?
“I like to be prepared for school early. When you know what you have to do for the week, it is easier to take some stress off of getting things done.”
Who has made the greatest influence on you as a student-athlete?
“The team has had the greatest influence on me; they support me and give me the strength to get through the hard workouts.”
